Before visiting Angola, you should be aware of electrical outlet types as well as the voltage, electrical frequency and electrical plugs available in the country. The available voltage in Angola is 220 Volts with an electrical frequency of 50 Hertz.  It is important to know what is the available voltage when using your equipment because using the wrong voltage is a sure way of destroying them. To avoid this kind of problem, tourists are highly encouraged to bring a voltage converter. There are three types of voltage converter, the resistor network voltage converter that supports devices with 50 – 1600 Watts. The next type of voltage converter is the transformer that supports devices with 50 – 100 Watts; and the combination converter that supports both devices with low and high Watts. When traveling to Angola, a combination voltage converter is advisable to bring.

Electrical Outlet and Plug Types in Angola

The electrical outlet in Angola accepts only one kind of electrical plug, the ones with two round pins or the CEE 7/16 Euro plug.

CEE 7/16 Euro Plug and Electrical Outlet

There is only type of plug available in Angola, it is called the CEE 7/16 euro plug. The CEE 7/16 euro plug is designed for voltages up to 220 V at 2.5 A. It is a flat, two-pole domestic AC power plug. The pins of the euro plug are sized 9mm long and consist of 9mm long conductive tip, 4mm diameter with a rounded ending, 10mm long flexible insulated shaft that is not more than 3.8mm diameter. This type of plug is most commonly used in Continental Europe, the former Soviet Republics, Middle East, Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean, South East Asia and the Pacific Rim. Most CEE 7/16 plugs are not compatible with British electrical outlet, so you will need to use a plug adapter. The plug has 19mm separation from the pins and the pins’ 4mm length allows CEE 7/16 safe insertion in other European, French, Shucko, Israeli and  some Italian types of electrical outlet.
