It is compatible with the device from tourists in the United States and Canada, that has the same voltage and electrical frequency. Electrical Outlet and Plug Types in Anguilla

There are two electrical outlet types in Anguilla that generally accept only two types of plug, the ones with two flat blades and those with two flat blades and a round grounding or earth pin. Although there are parts in Anguilla that have a different electrical outlet and does not accept the usual US or Canadian plugs. There are two type of plugs available in Anguilla, the Type A or the North American or Japanese 2 blade plug and the Type B or the American 3 pin plug.

NEMA 1-15 Electrical Outlet and Plug

The first type of electrical plug in Anguilla is the Type A or the North American or Japanese 2-blade plug. The North American 2-blade electrical outlet and plug is also known as the NEMA 1-15. This type of electrical outlet and plug uses two flat parallel pins or blades. The two flat parallel blades are 6.35mm wide, 1.254mm thick, 15.875-18.256mm long and spaced 12.7mm apart. This kind of electrical outlet and plug is usually rated at 125 V maximum. It is mostly used in North America and the east coast of South America. It is used on smaller devices that do not require a ground connection. Early designs allowed the two flat blades to be inserted either in horizontal and vertical positions. There are now modern plugs that have neutral blades that are wider than the live blade so that a polarized plug can only be inserted one way. The new polarized Type A electrical plug will not fit in old Type A outlets, but both old and new Type A electrical plugs will fit into the new Type A and B electrical outlets.

                                          NEMA 5-15 Electrical Outlet and Plug

The other type of plug available in Anguilla is the Type B or the American 3-pin plug. The American 3-pin electrical outlet and plug is also known as the Nema 5-15 plug. This type of electrical outlet and plug uses two flat parallel pins and a round grounding or earth pin that grounds the device before the power is connected. It is rated 125 volts at 15 A. Nema 1-15 plugs are compatible with the Nema 5-15 electrical outlet, however, Nema 5-15 plugs are not compatible with Nema 1-15 electrical outlet. Nema 1-15 and 5-15 are standard in Canada, the United States and Mexico. So if you came from North America, your plugs will fit, but you will have to make sure that your equipment can handle the voltage, which is considered twice as high than they regularly use.

These types of electrical outlet and plugs are installed in most residential and business centers in the Anguilla. If you wish to visit Anguilla and bring some of your electrical devices and appliances, bringing a voltage converter and universal adapter is highly advised.
